Canadian Patient Safety Week starts today and I thought it would be a good time to share videos about patient safety issues in our health care system. I don’t mean the usual wash your hands message directed at our health care providers. What I mean is straight talk about some of the underlying problems in Canadian health care and what patients and their families can do about them.
I recently travelled to Manitoba to meet with individuals whose experiences with our health care system have united them on a path for driving change and making improvements that will help other patients and their families.
Keep watching the site for new videos from patient safety advocates among us.
Today’s video clips feature Leslie Worthington and her sister Val Lee providing some tips for patients and families affected by medical error. You can read more about their story here .

I’m a Canadian citizen that invested in an American dentist licensed in California. The Dental Board and the Dentist refuse to inform patients at the dental office of the dentist’s changed status when they are placed on probation. I will suffer for life the permanent and irreversible physical and financial losses. Please read/sign the petition below to both be informed and to share the information with others.
Tina’s Bill Proposal requires all dentists that the state allows to continue practicing while on probation to give each patient at the place of treatment a sheet explaining he/she is on probation and the reasons for that probation, have the patient or parent or guardian sign for it, and have the signed statement put in the patient chart file 1:52:18 is the time of the testimony on this video http://www.calchannel.com/channel/viewvideo/2131%20www.calchannel.com
Tina,
It’s nice to hear from a patient safety advocate south of the border. Thanks for informing us about this issue and your proposed bill for the state of California. I see that your petition is attracting people from various states and countries including Canada, United Kingdom, France and Australia. Please keep us updated on your efforts!
